April 2013.......A very long winter brought me the desire to shoot some new still life. The violin was shot for a friend as the opening image in their quartet website. The garlic shots were an experiment to shoot still life with daylight in my home studio. All shots were taken with a Nikon D7000 and Tamron 18-270 usd macro lens.the violin was lit with a single tungsten desklamp.
April 2013.....At last some good weather and light,A quick visit to the local lake at Grovelands park.I am trying new settings on the D7000,a1 in the autofocus settings, that gives you continous focusing with the 9 central most sensitive points, very good with catching birds in flight, also i abandoned shooting raw plus jpg,i shot all jpg's and the D7000 is capable in shootting over 100 on 6 fps and write them on a 95 mbs extreme card.Thhe lens is a Sigma 150-500 mm os HSM
A quick visit to Titchwell marsh in North Norfolk, lots of birds, waders feeding in low tide,a marsh harrier hunting above the reed beds, very cold with very little light under the grey overcast sky.the only consolation the friendly Robin feeding off the RSPB man's hands in the car park, the Robin shots taken hand held at around 180th of a sec,the image stabilization on the Sigma 150-500mm works very well.
The London skyline is changing
My last visit to the River Thames was last September, since then the london skyline has changed, two new skyscrapers are coming up additional to the Shard that was completed this year. The Cheese Grater and the Walkie-Talkie are under construction due to be completed in 2014.The iconic Gherkin cannot be seeing from the western side of the City of London any more
Spring 2014.....A new nature season started, the Kingfishers started nesting early at RSPB Rye Mead.Despite the very crowded hide and poor light on some days i managed to take some descent shots of those magnificent birds
